Writing your info product is just half the battle. In fact, it may even be less than half. The real struggle is getting your marketing machine cranked up and your audience primed to buy it. Before your info product hits the virtual shelves, here are some things that you need to do first.

Build Your List

List-building is a long-term strategy that takes lots of time. But once you have a large list full of good leads, selling your info product will be easy. The more addresses you have to send messages to, the more sales you’ll get. You’ll sell copies as soon as you launch. Grow your list by giving them a freebie to get them to join.

Gather Testimonials

The only way to sell an info product is with plenty of strong testimonials. Testimonials offer ‘social proof,’ which is marketing-speak for the idea that if other folks liked it, it must be good. You can get real testimonials by giving out free copies of your info product in exchange for the feedback. Tell them that you want them to be honest.

The best way to do this is to approach people in a forum in your niche and ask who’d like to review it. If possible, get some known names. Try to choose industry leaders. Lots of people will be happy to give you a review. They get to preview the info product and also get a backlink to their site. That will add credibility to your product.

Advertise Like Crazy

Go all out on advertising and don’t spare any expense. The more aggressive you are in your advertising, the more it will attract buyers. It’ll also lend you credibility because it shows that you have confidence in your product. If you don’t advertise, this makes it look like you don’t. Before you invest lots of money in an ad campaign, create a few ads and split-test them to see what works best. This way you’ll get the most out of your advertising dollars.

Tell Your List

Email your list several weeks before the launch, a few days before, and then the day it goes on sale. The more you can remind them, the better. You can’t really tell them about it too much. There’ll be some list members who are on the fence about it and if they hear about it enough, they’ll decide to buy. Use your social media profiles also to create a buzz.

Prepare Your Affiliates

Get your affiliate program set up. Create a site or a page on your site for your affiliates and provide for them all the materials they’ll need. Try to recruit some people to help you promote the product and give them good incentives for selling it for you.


Before the big day, do a pre-launch. This is a limited launch to get feedback from your customers. See what they’re saying about the product and make changes if necessary. This is also good for seeing what kind of refund rate you can expect.
