In today’s beauty news, we’re sharing Good Housekeeping’s list of the top anti-aging makeup products. Last summer, scientists at the Good Housekeeping Research Institute began their yearlong project to determine, scientifically, if any of the myriad anti-aging cosmetics lived up to their claims — eye shadows that say they don’t crease, lipliners that are supposedly anti-feathering, and primers that promise to hide lines. They enlisted 661 women, ages 35 to 79, to try them — in some cases, for as long as eight weeks. They filled out questionnaires, came to labs for skin analyses done with high-tech equipment, and went home with the test brands (testers didn’t know what brands they were testing).
The results were surprising and exciting. Volunteers, beauty industry insiders and makeup fans loved that the results proved the effectiveness and success of many drugstore beauty brands. When measured against expensive department store lines, the drugstore brands did very well.
Rosemary Ellis, editor-in-chief of the magazine said in a press release: ‘From laptops to lipsticks, our readers look to us for recommendations on products that perform as promised and are worth the money. ‘Our Anti-Aging Awards are unique because the winners are chosen not only because they smell nice or come in pretty shades: they are backed by scientific testing and have literally been proven to work.’
